Dordogne

The rivers Dordogne and Vézère cut deep and winding valleys into the lush, wooded countryside. Man and his predecessors have lived in this part of the world for forty thousand years or more.

Caves within which were found the remains of Cro-Magnon man and Mousterian man rub shoulders with ancient fortresses of later dates. Magnificent prehistoric cave paintings and glorious cliff-top villages and châteaux are just part of the area's extensive heritage.
